One of the main attractions of the Costa Brava is the large number of beaches it has to offer. Each beach has its own personality, and there are many factors that allow us to evaluate them and make a selection.

In this list we have focused on the most outstanding beaches in terms of elements such as length, quantity and quality of services offered to visitors, natural environment and location.

From Visita Costa Brava we propose this list of the 10 best beaches on the Costa Brava.

Lloret de Mar

Firstly, we would like to highlight two beaches located in the town of Lloret de Mar.

The first is Sa Boadella, considered the only unspoilt beach in Lloret. Located in a privileged spot, it is accessed through a pine grove between the Santa Clotilde garden and Santa Cristina beach. It is an ideal place to spend a great day with the family or to practice water sports such as snorkel or kayak. It also has bar and restaurant services and also allows nudism.

The other beach we have selected from this area as one of the top 10 is Santa Cristina beach. It is also located in a privileged spot, on the border with Blanes and separated from Cala Treumal by a rocky opening, between Pinya de Rosa garden and Santa Cristina hermitage. It has fine sand, crystal clear waters and shallow waters, and is ideal for spending the day with the family. It also offers a large number of services, such as a restaurant, bar, showers and toilets, parking area and lifeguard service.

S'Agaró - Sant Antoni de Calonge - Palamós

Next to the town of s'Agaró we find Sa Conca beach. Located in a residential area, Sa Conca is a very popular beach, ideal for a great day out with the family. It has a beautiful natural environment and a large extension; it is easily accessible and offers a large number of services, such as a bar and parking area, among others, which will allow you to spend the whole day there. It is also accessible for people with reduced mobility. One of the best beaches in the area.

We continue with Can Cristus, in Sant Antoni de Calonge. Located just 2.5 kilometres from the town, it has become one of the main attractions of the area thanks to its natural surroundings and the fact that it is very well communicated, as it can be reached on foot, by car or even by bus. It is an ideal place to spend a great day with the family. In addition, it is equipped with showers and adaptable toilets, ramps and accesses with walkways, lifeguards, sun loungers and even a good restaurant and bar. It has obtained several distinctions related to the Commitment to Quality Tourism.

In fifth place we have the Castell beach in Palamós. Located in the north of the town, it is a place where nature and history blend in perfect harmony. Its crystal-clear waters and its length mean that you can enjoy a great day out with the family, but it is also highly recommended to go for a stroll, discovering the ancient Iberian settlement of Castell. It also has numerous services that will make you spend a great day there.

Palafrugell

If we continue up north, we will stop at Calella de Palafrugell, where we will find another of the 10 best beaches on the Costa Brava.

This is Port Bo or Barques beach. This beach forms a continuation together with two other beaches called Calau beach and Malaespina beach. Being centrally located, it has many services, such as bar and restaurant areas and is easily accessible on foot from the town. The beach is very popular for the havaneres festival that takes place every summer.

Also in Calella de Palafrugell, to the south of the beaches mentioned above, is Port Pelegrí, a charming and spectacular spot with crystal-clear waters that can be reached on foot along the promenade. Here you will find a series of old fishermen's huts that have now been converted into beach services, such as a diving school and a restaurant where you can enjoy the gastronomy of the Costa Brava without having to travel too far.

Begur

Next we will stop at Begur where we will find two beaches that we have also included in the top 10.

First, we find Fonda Beach, included in this list because it is one of the few, if not the only one, that still conserves all its purity. It is a totally unspoilt beach with a marvellous setting of rocks, cliffs and vegetation that will leave you fascinated and where you can stroll and relax.

Next, we go to Illa Roja beach, included because it is internationally known as one of the main nudist beaches and which, curiously, is divided into two parts due to a small reddish island that gives its name to the beach. One of the most emblematic beaches on the Costa Brava.

Sant Pere Pescador

Finally, we would like to highlight Sant Pere Pescador beach, in Sant Pere Pescador.

We include it mainly because of its location and length, ideal for water sports enthusiasts. This beach is more than 6 kilometres long and runs along the entire Aiguamolls de l'Empordà (a visit not to be missed). Thanks to its length, the beach has several sections, and one part is reserved only for water sports. One of the windsurfing world championship events is held in this part because, thanks to its geographical location, it is very exposed to the wind.
