Costa Brava is an ideal place for all kinds of water sports. From the coastline of Blanes and Lloret de Mar, to the rocky and windy area of Cap de Creus, there are plenty of places with perfect conditions for windsurfing, white water swimming, scuba diving, snorkelling, kayaking and even the most recent disciplines, such as paddle surfing.

We make it easy for you to choose from among the many areas that this spectacular area of the Catalan coastline has to offer, so we offer you this list of the 15 best beaches for water sports on the Costa Brava.

Blanes

Let's start in Blanes, more specifically at Santa Anna beach, located behind the port and close to a sailing and diving school. This area is ideal for beginners in scuba diving and snorkelling thanks to its shallow waters. From here, you can follow the coastline passing by Marimurtra Botanical Garden until you reach Sant Francesc cove and Punta de s'Agulla, diving in a marine environment that will fascinate you.

Sant Feliu de Guíxols

Arriving at the coast of Sant Feliu de Guíxols, we find four ideal places for water sports, especially snorkelling and scuba diving, which will allow us to explore the beautiful seabed that exists in this area.

Port Salvi is a cove made up entirely of rocks that is located on the point that juts out just before reaching the centre of the town, specifically at the foot of the Eden Roc Hotel. It is a very popular area for scuba diving lovers thanks to its rich seabed, and it is an ideal place for snorkelling and swimming, as a channel has been set up for this purpose.

In this area we also find Cala Jonca. We have included it mainly for its geographical location, for being situated behind the port of Sant Feliu and the Nautical Club, an area where we find a sailing and diving school and the possibility of renting boats. All this allows us to explore the incredible area of marine reefs and their depths.

Further north we find Ametller cove, located in a protected natural area where it is highly recommended to take a hiking route to get to know the surroundings. In addition, the area also has a rich seabed to enjoy snorkelling or scuba diving.

Before reaching Sant Pol beach we find a group formed by Es Cranc cove, del Peix and dels Mussols, a spectacular rocky area that is great for snorkelling.

Sant Antoni de Calonge

Several kilometres before reaching Sant Antoni de Calonge we find Cap Roig cove, which is divided in two by a reddish-coloured central islet with a beautiful seabed.

Pals

The Gran beach in Pals is about 2.4 kilometres long. Its slope on entering the water, the waves and the surfing, windsurfing and paddlesurfing equipment hire shops make it a beach to be taken into account by lovers of the sport.

L’Estartit

Past the Ter gorge and just before reaching the centre of the town, we find the Els Griells beach. Its extension and conditions make it perfect for sports such as windsurfing and paddle surfing.

If you reach the centre of the town centre of l'Estartit, you will find the marina. Here there is a wide range of possibilities to enjoy the Medes islands and its spectacular scenery, considered the best nature reserve in the western Mediterranean. You can choose to go on kayak excursions along the rugged coastline, or discover the incredible seabed with a diving or snorkelling trip.

Sant Pere Pescador

The Sant Pere Pescador beach is an important international reference point for sports disciplines such as windsurfing and kitesurfing. Its more than 6 kilometres of sand, dunes and waters exposed to the wind make its conditions the most suitable for lovers of these sports.

Following the coastline, we find the beaches of Can Martinet and Gola del Fluvià, practically virgin spaces, with a beautiful natural environment and excellent conditions for windsurfing and kitesurfing.

Cap de Creus

Reaching the northernmost part of the Costa Brava, there are several places of interest for water sports lovers, including Jòncols cove, a practically unspoilt and rocky spot just past Cap Norfeu. This site has a spectacular seabed that is highly recommended for snorkelling and scuba diving.

Almost all the coves of Cap de Creus have similar characteristics, with rocky formations, small dimensions and ideal for snorkelling or scuba diving, but among all of them we also highlight Jugadora cove. This place stands out for its location, right next to the Cap de Creus lighthouse, from where we can access many neighbouring coves and enjoy a fantastic day of sport and nature.

El Port de la Selva

Here we find the Erola beach, a place to take into account due to its optimal conditions and the offer it has to offer. It has a surfing school and other water and wind sports, as well as two parking areas that are ideal for unloading sports equipment on the sand.

Llançà

To finish this list, we stop in the town of Llançà. Here we find Bramant cove, a rocky cove in a beautiful natural setting that is not to be missed. We have chosen it because it is located at the Punta del Cap Ras, a perfect place for snorkelling or scuba diving. Heading north we can explore the marvellous seabed around the Punta del Cap Ras as far as Garbet beach; and heading south we can visit places such as Cros beach, El Rastell beach or Grifeu beach.
