Ermita de Santa Cristina

Santa Cristina is the patron saint of Lloret de Mar and this temple is its most valued symbol. During Fiesta Mayor (24th of July) they carry, in procession by sea, one of the relics of the Saint from Platja Gran de Lloret to Santa Cristina beach, at the feet of the cliff where the hermitage is located.

The original chapel is dated from XIVth century, although the current hermitage it was built at the end of XVIIIth century around the first one, because it wasn't allowed demolish the old one until the new temple was ending.

The architectural style of the current Ermita de Santa Cristina is principally Greco-Romano. The temple has a particular artistic interest, for its high altar made with italian marble and because its collection of boats mockup in miniature delivered as an offering to the Saint by the devote sailors.

The location of Ermita de Santa Cristina is especially privileged. From Santa Cristina square, under the shade of the centernarian pine (sacred tree that has more than 500 years), you have an incredible view of Santa Cristina beach and Cala Treumal, a beautiful place in Costa Brava which is worth visiting.

The best way to arrive to Santa Cristina is by the sea, boarding in one of the many boats that are crossing Lloret coast everyday from the Town Hall Square to the neighbour town of Blanes, doing different stops in the most emblematic beaches and coves of the Costa Brava south.
