La Torre de les Hores
While you know the old town of Pals and its little charms, you will find the so-called Torre de les Hores.
The tower it went together with its castle, the so-called Castell de Plas, that were built during the centuries IX and XII, for the Carolingian king Odó. In 994 the counts of Barcelona and Girona given it to the Bishop of Girona.
The castle along with its tower they were passed to different families, like the counts of Barcelona and the descendants of the feudal lord.
But, It wasn't until S.XV, when, during the war against Joan II, the castle it was in very poor condition, this led to the fact that in 1478, King Joan II decided to reuse the stones to rebuild the walls and the church of Sant Pere. Although the tower it was turned into a Gothic bell tower, hence its name, it keeps being the same that it was built with the great castle of Pals.
