Santa Maria de Roses
Santa Maria de Roses was a monastery founded on the remains of the city of Rhodes in 1022, and is located in the currently town of Roses.
Its remains are found inside the Ciutadella de Roses enclosure. And also the monastery is included in the protection of historical heritage.
The decline of the monastery began in the 15th century due to plagues, wars, especially the Catalan Civil War, piracy, among others. But later a perimeter of walls was built to protect it.
