Itinerary
We will walk along the ancient Via Augusta and explore the Roman, Carolingian, and medieval walls. Discover the city’s medieval splendor reflected in its monuments: gothic palaces, beautiful Romanesque monasteries, the Arab Baths, and above all, the stunning Cathedral.
In the heart of the old town, close to the Cathedral, we’ll find the enduring Jewish legacy of Girona. The Jewish community, or Aljama, was one of the most important in Spain and a key center of Kabbalah. The Jewish Quarter, known as "El Call," is a maze of cobbled alleys that remain virtually untouched since 1492, the year the Jews were expelled from Spain.
Leaving the Call, we’ll see the Noucentista-style house where renowned architect Rafael Masó was born. Then we’ll arrive at the Rambla and cross Girona’s most iconic bridges over the Onyar River. The bridge designed by Gustave Eiffel is certainly the most famous. We’ll end the tour at Plaça Independència, Girona’s lively meeting point, full of restaurants and sunny terraces.
