Tour Route
In the historic center, we'll explore the Jewish Quarter ("El Call"), a labyrinth of cobbled streets that still preserve the deep Jewish heritage of the city. Girona’s Aljama (Jewish community) was one of the most important in Spain and a key center of Kabbalistic studies.
The Jewish presence in Girona dates back to the 9th century, and the community gained great influence through merchants, doctors, notaries, and notable figures such as Moses ben Nahman — a great master of Kabbalah, also known as Nahmanides, Ramban, or Bonastruc ça Porta. At its peak, the Jewish population made up around 10% of Girona’s residents.
Descending Carrer de la Força, we’ll leave the Call behind and pass the modernist house where architect Rafael Masó was born, then head to the Rambla to meet the Onyar River and its bridges. The tour ends at the Stone Bridge, the Eiffel Bridge (Pont de les Peixateries Velles), and the Princess Bridge (Pont d’en Gómez).
