Castle of Cinc Claus
Cinc Claus Castle is a castle in the municipality of l'Escala declared a Cultural Asset of National Interest.
The castle consisted of a portal and a tower of the old wall.
It was built during the 14th century on top of the remains of an old Roman Villa and over the years it was owned by different families. Finally, in 1640 the castle was sacked and burned by the troops of Phillip IV during the war of the reapers.

The name of l'Escala is known in many corners of the world thanks to the excellence of one of its main industries, the anchovies salting. During your stay, you can visit one of its factories to observe the traditional process of making this product, as well as the anchovy and salt museum.
As well as enjoying beaches and coves such as Cala Montgó, Riells beach or Illa Mateua cove, in l'Escala you can also discover the gateway to the Iberian Peninsula of the Greek and Roman cultures by visiting the Archaeological Site of Empúries.
A few metres from the site is the medieval village of Sant Martí d'Empúries, another highly recommended visit during your stay in l'Escala.
