Maritime quarter of Port Bo

The maritime quarter of Port Bo in Calella de Palafrugell forms one of the most popular and iconic Costa Brava postcards. Within this charming historical complex, the porticoed space known as Les Voltes, made up of four white buildings facing the sea, is one of the most photographed and appreciated places by visitors.

The origins of the neighbourhood date back to the 18th century, when the fishermen's huts that used to occupy the area gave way to the construction of buildings and streets due to the increase in fishing and commercial activity. Les Voltes was the space used by the fishermen to auction fish, mend their nets, or simply chat. Today, the streets of Port Bo still retain their original layout, and the buildings maintain the traditional architecture. These characteristics have led it to be declared a Cultural Asset of National Interest.
