Pedró Tower
The Torre del Pedró is located in l'Escala on the top of the mountain of the same name. It is a watchtower and defense tower that originated in the 16th century, in the context of pirate incursions suffered by the Costa Brava. The Torre del Pedró was part of a network that included other points such as the Torre de Montgó and the fortified farmhouses of les Corts and Vilanera. In the face of the arrival of pirates, the towers warned each other through fire signals.
Currently, the towers only preserve about four meters of their original height. It has been declared a Cultural Heritage of National Interest.
