One of the main attractions, if it is not the main one, of all Costa Brava is the multitude of beaches and coves. Every beach and cove has its peculiarities and differentiation depending of its location, its conditions, its materials and the services that has for the visitors. From little virgin coves to big beaches of some kilometres. We want to differentiate the beaches from the coves.

In this case we are going to focus on big beaches that have a large area and usually are located in a town centre or near and that's because receive a lot of visitors every day. In addition, this beaches have a lot of service for the visitors like bars, restaurants, boat rental, parking area, life guards, toiletes and showers, nautical sports school, some of them have the port near, etc.

That's because, from Visita Costa Brava, we have selected the ones that, for us, are the best 10 best beaches in Costa Brava:

Lloret de Mar

Firstly we want to stand out two beaches located in Lloret de Mar.
First we find Sa Boadella, considered the only virgin beach in Lloret, located in a privileged place and accesible through a pine forest between Santa Clotilde Gardens and Santa Cristina beach. It its the ideal place to enjoy a great family day or to practise aquatic sports like snorkel and kayak. In addition, it has bar and restaurant service and also allows nudism.
And precisely the other beach that we have choose in this area inside the 10 best beaches is Santa Cristina. Located also in a privileged place, near the territorial limit with Blanes and separated from Cala Treumal by an opening formed by a rock, between Pinya de Rosa Botanical Garden and Ermita de Santa Cristina, is famous because of the procession that is carried out by the sea of the relics of Santa Cristina. It is formed by fine sand, crystalline and low depth waters and ideal to enjoy a family day. In addition, offers a lot of services like restaurant, bar, showers and toiletes, parking area, life guard and above the beach we find the renowned Hotel Santa Marta with some tennis court in the sand.

S'Agaró - Sant Antoni de Calonge - Palamós

Next to the town of s'Agaró we find Sa Conca beach. Located near the town, in a residential area, Sa Conca is a very visited beach ideal to enjoy a great family day. A beautiful natural environment and with a great length, you can access there easily and offers a big number of services like bar and parking area, among others, that help you to stay there all they. In addition, its very accesible to people with reduced mobility. One of the best beaches in the area.

We continue with Can Cristus in Sant Antoni de Calonge, only 2,5 kilometres far from the town it is one of the main tourist attraction in the area thanks to its natural environment and it is well connected because yoy can access there on foot, by car or by bus. Is one of the ideal places to enjoy a great family day. In addition, is well equiped with showers and adaptable toiletes, ramps and walkways to access, life guards, hammock rental and also a good restaurant and a cocktail bar. A lot of people goes there to practise nautical sports and it has obtained some distinctives related to the tourist quality.

In the fifth place there is Platja del Castell, from Palamós. Located at the north of the town, is a place where nature and history mix in perfect harmony and make an incredible place. Its crystalline waters and its length make it possible to enjoy a great family day, but it is also recommended to take a walk through its surroundings, where you will find a lot of pines and the ancient Iberian town of Castell. In addition, it has a lot of services for all the visitors.

If we continue to the north, the next stop is in Calella de Palafrugell, where we find another one beach.
It is Port Bo o Platja de les Barques. This beach form a continuation with two other beaches called Platja d'en Calau and Malaespina beach and it its the main area in summer for the towns of Palafrugell, Mont-ras, Tamariu, Llafranc and obviusly Calella de Palafrugell. Due to its location in the centre of the town has a lot of services like bars and restaurants and it has an easy access on foot from the centre. We stand out Port Bo o Platja de les Barques because in this beach is recreated the popular habaneras singing every summer that is known around the world.
Also in Calella de Palafrugell, at the south of the beach that we have just commented, we find Port Pelegrí, a beautiful place and a spectacular beach with crystalline waters where you can access on foot through the promenade and where we will find some old fishermen shacks that nowadays are services for the visitors like an scuba diving school and a restaurant where you can enjoy the gastronomy of Costa Brava without leaving the seashore.

Next, we will stop in Begur where we find two more beaches that we wanted to include inside the 10 best beaches.
First there is Platja Fonda, included due to is one of the few, if not the only one, that still conserve the purity of Costa Brava. It is a beach totally virgin and with a marvelous environment of rocks, cliffs and vegetation that will leave you fascinated and where you can take a walk and relax.
Then, Illa Roja beach, included because is one of the most symbolic beaches in Begur and Costa Brava. Also, is known around the world as one of the main nudists beaches and it is divided in two parts due to an reddish islet that gives the name to the beach.

Sant Pere Pescador

Finally, we want to stand out Platja Sant Pere Pescador, in Sant Pere Pescador.
Not for its visual charm, but for its location, its length and for the nautical sports lovers. It is a beach with more than 6 kilometres of length that go all over the Aiguamolls de l'Empordà (a view that you can't miss either). The sand forms dunes and the wetlands stay behind. Thanks to its length the beach has different sections and there is a part reserved only to practise nautical sports. In this part is always celebrated one of the world championship events of windsurf, because thanks to its geographical situation recieve a lot of wind.
